ItsLearning is an alternative to a standard website that allows interaction between the teachers and students. Teachers can input lessons and resources, and students can interact with these resources as well as with other students. It is a way to help students, parents, and teachers connect with one another and allow access to assignments electronically. - https://www.springbranchisd.com/studentsfamilies/itslearning
Naviance is a college and career management system designed to help students discover their strengths and match strengths to careers and personality. Join the Stratford High School PTSA
The mission of the Stratford High School PTSA is to support the entire student body and staff of SHS. Through our financial contributions and volunteer efforts, we provide items and experiences that enhance the educational experience of all SHS students and help them to succeed. Please help us accomplish our mission by joining the PTSA and by volunteering to support our students. You can do this by clicking here.
Communities in Schools (CIS)
Our SHS Communities In Schools Wellness Counselor, Amanda Thompson, is available for every student to address issues such as, but not limited to, grief and loss, depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, anger management, and suspected drug/alcohol abuse, while providing our students with a trusted person to turn to and a safe place to work through negative thoughts, emotions or situations.- https://spartans4spartans.com/
THE PTSA BIG FORM AND DIRECTORY
At the beginning of each school year, the PTSA combines all Back to School forms into one “Big Form.” This form allows you to join the PTSA, become a Sparta Supporter, purchase a Student Directory, and donate to our Scholarship and Teacher Appreciation funds. The Big Form is available on the PTSA website at stratfordptsa.com.
One of the important resources made available to Stratford families is the SHS Student Directory, which provides great information, including contact information for students and their parents, important information regarding SBISD, as well as the Stratford High School faculty, staff, and PTSA. We recommend that you do include your student’s cell phone number so he/she can be contacted for school-related projects. For parents, we can list two phone numbers but only one email address. Confirm, update, and/or add your student’s information now through September 14, 2019, by registering on our website at stratfordptsa.com.
The Spartan Scoop
Every Sunday, the Spartan Scoop is published with a week’s worth of Spartan information. Do you have articles to submit for publication on our website? Look for the “SHS PTSA Newsletter” tab on the menu bar above to submit a request.
Each class at SHS has its own Grade Level Principal. The SHS Counselors are split by alpha order. Contact information for these administrators can be found on the SHS website at https://ssh.springbranchisd.com/. Visit our SHS Counselors website for valuable information at https://www.shs-spartans.com/.
Each class also has two parents who serve as Peer Group Coordinators who help ensure that parents receive the information necessary for their child’s grade level. Contact information for the Peer Group Coordinators can be found on the PTSA website at https://stratfordhs.membershiptoolkit.com/ptsa-board.
Register to Volunteer
All volunteers must register with SBISD and gain approval before starting volunteer service in any SBISD school. This must be done each year. If you were approved to volunteer during the previous school year, your status is only valid until October 1, 2019. Please contact SBISD Community Relations at 713.251.2468 or firstname.lastname@example.org should you need additional information. The volunteer application can be found at https://www.springbranchisd.com/engage/partnerships-volunteers/volunteer-in-sbisd.
Link Crew - Freshman Orientation
Link Crew is a high school transition program to welcome freshmen to Stratford and make them feel comfortable throughout the first year of high school. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew is led by juniors and seniors. Link Crew leaders help guide freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful throughout high school. Link Crew begins with a powerful orientation day, August 6, 2019, that makes freshmen excited and proud to be attending Stratford and allows them to begin developing relationships and strategies that will contribute to their high school success. Link Crew meets in small groups and Link Crew leaders continue to be available for freshmen throughout the school year.
While freshmen students are attending Link Crew, their parents and guardians are invited to attend the Newcomers Coffee hosted by the PTSA. The Newcomers’ Coffee is an opportunity to meet the SHS Building Principal, the 9th Grade Principal, the PTSA President and other helpful members of the Stratford community. Various SHS organizations will also be there selling merchandise.
This year's coffee is on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. in the Stratford Library (second floor). Merchandise sales will begin at 8:00 a.m. Parents may drop their students off for Link Crew and then come up to the Library for the Newcomers Coffee.
